Nomkhita Nqweni

Chief Executive: Absa Wealth and Investment Management

 

As a member of the Barclays Africa Exco, in this role, Nomkhita coordinates the delivery of investment advisory, wealth fiduciary advisory, banking and credit solutions to the ultra high net worth wealth management clients of Absa and Barclays in the African continent and coordinates the provision of all non-banking investment and wealth products to internal and external distribution channels representing retail and institutional investors, responsible for ZAR 232bn of assets under management.


Nomkhita joined the firm in June 2010. Prior to this role, she amassed a wealth of experience of almost 14 years across various positions at Alexander Forbes.
With the passion for developing talent and skills development, from 2004 to 2009, Nomkhita served as an executive member, Deputy President and President of the Association for Black Securities and Investment Professionals. Nomkhita also chairs the Barclays Africa Diversity and Inclusion council, a forum which drives the Group's global diversity and inclusion strategy for Africa.


In 2006, she launched the Women In focus mentorship programme aimed at supporting the growth of women leadership in the Financial services sector. Until recently she has served as a board member of the SA Mint, SA Bank Note Company, both subsidiaries of the South African Reserve Bank.


Born and raised in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, she contributes to the development of the community she came from, serving as a board member of the Ubuntu Education Fund, a Clinton initiative globally recognised non profit organisation addressing the cradle to career needs of children and their households affected by HIV and AIDS in and around Zwide township.


She holds a BSc degree from Rhodes University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Investment Management from RAU (UJ) and has completed a Leadership Development Programme at GIBS.
She has two children aged 8 and 3 years.
