Mmakgoshi, an Economist by training, is a specialist in the areas of global economics and financial markets with extensive operational experience in South Africa and internationally. In her current role she oversees amongst others, Government’s engagement and relationship with the World Bank, the African Development Bank, International Monetary Fund, the G20 and the OECD. She is also South Africa’s senior negotiator for the establishment of the New BRICS Development Bank, with an authorized capital of US$100 billion.
She has also consulted extensively in the broad areas of Savings, Investment and Development Finance for a number of institutions and governments on the African continent. Since 2011, she has been a visiting Lecturer of Development Finance at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town. Mmakgoshi is the recipient of the 2011 ABSIP Most Influential Woman in the Financial Services Sector (Women in Focus Award). She has a Masters in Economics degree from the University of London.
