Fani is a former executive director of ABIL Limited and founding CEO of Kagiso Media Limited and founding director of Kagiso Trust Investments (Pty) Limited. He was the founding Chairman of the private equity firm Tiso Group (Pty) Limited. He has served on boards of numerous private and JSE top 100 companies.

He is currently  non-executive Chairman of Investec Bank Limited, and Joint Chairman of Investec Limited and Investec Plc. He also serves on the boards of MTN Group Limited, Investec Asset Management, Investec Bank Plc, and other Investec Group companies. He is a director and investor in the private equity firm Tsiya Group (Pty) Limited. He formerly served as non-executive Deputy Charmain of the Bidvest Group Limited, and a member of the board of Kumba Resources Limited.

Fani has 20 years experience in the private equity and banking sectors, and general business. He has served on audit, remuneration and nomination committees of boards over this period. He offers seasoned judgment on issues of corporate governance, cooperate performance, strategy formulation and implementation and leadership.
